The Irish music scene has been transformed by the arrival of streaming music service Spotify.
Its arrival has resulted in a wave of new releases that are being streamed in a much more convenient way than before.
It has also given new artists new opportunities to launch their careers and it has given music fans an opportunity to revisit old favourites.
In an attempt to help us better understand what makes a good playlist, we have taken the liberty of creating a Spotify playlist of our favourite Irish tunes, featuring all the songs released in 2017.
You can listen to them all, including some that are not on Spotify.
While Spotify is a free service, the music available through it is paid for by the artists.
Spotify has a strict playlist policy that is meant to ensure that it only offers what the artists would have wanted to play on Spotify, rather than what would have been a reasonable fee.
We hope you enjoy the list and will take some time to discover the great Irish music that has been released by artists such as The Killers, The Pogues, The Mamas and The Papas and even the likes of The National, The White Stripes and The Pogs, and The Kill’s own Paul Oakenfold.
In case you missed it, check out the list below.
